Import operating expenses from QuickBooks Online or Xero without counting anything twice.

On this page

Connect QuickBooks Online or Xero to import operating expenses (rent, payroll, software) from your profit and loss report. The connection is read-only. Nothing is imported until you choose which accounts to import.

Connect

  1. Connect

In Integrations, choose QuickBooks or Xero and sign in. If your login has several organisations, choose one.

  2. Choose the accounts

For each account, choose Import or Skip, the cost category and the store it applies to (or all stores, split equally). The screen shows each account's amount last month.

  3. Save

Marginful imports the last 12 completed months, then syncs once a day.

Avoiding double counting

Marginful already tracks advertising, payment fees, shipping, cost of goods, packaging and commissions. Accounts for these are suggested as Skip. If you also entered an expense by hand that matches an imported account, Marginful warns you.

Good to know

  • Only completed months are imported. The current month shows no imported overhead until it closes.
  • Imported expenses are read-only in Marginful. Change them in your accounting system.
  • When you disconnect, choose to keep the imported expenses as regular expenses or delete them.

Morning (Green Invoice)

Coming soon

A Morning connector for supplier expenses and an invoice check against your orders is in development. Until then, import a Morning expense export with Smart import.
